Ford Custom 500 Police Interceptor (1972)

Car 4 of 4 in the heavy metal pack. The 1972 Ford Custom 500 429 Police Interceptor. This car is fun. It's quick, it lays a lot of rubber down, and it WILL catch any of the other cars in the heavy metal pack. Play as the cop and enjoy, or use the "everyone else" files to play the civilian version of the car. There is an HP version included.

The Ford Custom 500 was the base model, stripped down version of Ford's full size chassis. The police version was one of the last real "police packages" that ford produced. The engine was police only, a weird mix of parts and specs from the 429 ThunderJet (from the Thunderbird) and the 429 CobraJet (From the fast Mustangs, Torinos, etc). The combination made for a potent powerplant that when coupled with the heavy duty, stripped down chassis of the Custom, yielded a full size patrol car that some troopers reported would top 140 mph.
